In November, SHF Director of Ministries Scott Means was able to attend a meeting of the @na_schools Key Club to share the good works of Shepherd's Heart Veteran's Home with the club members. Club members also put together housewarming care packages for our Veteran participants to receive as they graduate. We love working with young supporters who share our vision to show compassion and care to the vulnerable! Thank you North Allegheny Key Club for your support.

Scott McCord Means is the Director of Ministries of Shepherd's Heart Fellowship. On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Scott was Ordained as a Deacon of the Anglican Church in a ceremony at the Trophimus Center in Ambridge. Scott is pictured with his wife, the Rev. Peggy Means. Also in attendance were his family, priests of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh, volunteers and staff of Shepherd's Heart Fellowship. The Right Rev. Alex Cameron, Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, was the Celebrant and Preacher. The role of the Deacon is to serve. According to the Book of Common Prayer, the Bishop may only admit a candidate as a Deacon after sufficient examination and testing to determine that the candidate meets the requirements of the Canons, and is of virtuous conduct, and instructed in the Holy Scriptures and fit for ministry in Christ's Church.

Our longstanding supporters @monvalleyabateofpa held their annual spaghetti dinner in support of Shepherd's Heart Fellowship on January 20 at Al's Cafe in Bethel Park. Our Veteran participants at Shepherd's Heart Veteran's Home were in attendance and had a great time! Thank you to Mon Valley ABATE and Al's Cafe for their tremendous efforts in coordinating this event each year.

On January 10, Shepherd's Heart Fellowship was glad to welcome Youngstown Blue Coats who distributed winter gear to 114 men and women in our neighborhood. Our Drop-In Center staff Erik and Tasha assisted with the distribution at Shepherd's Heart and Second Avenue Commons in single digit weather. We are grateful for Youngstown Blue Coats and their annual visit!

Last week, we had the opportunity to host Mission BBQ @missionbbq on their Annual Day of Service. Each year on the first Monday in January, Mission BBQ closes all of their restaurants to serve homeless Veterans in their communities. Mission BBQ provided a meal for our Veteran residents and staff, as well as donations of clothing and toiletry essentials. Thank you Mission BBQ for your Day of Service!
