Shepherd's Heart provides shuttle bus transportation free of charge to homeless adults three times a day, Monday through Friday, to Oakland, North Side, Hill District and Downtown. The shuttle bus transports these individuals to visits to doctors, the VA, hospitals/clinics, government offices, probation offices, work sites and other important sites. The Allegheny Homeless Engagement Network assists Shepherd’s Heart in communicating when and where the shuttle ministry to the homeless is available during the week.
Monday-Friday from 7:15am through 1:00pm.
7:15am - leaves Shepherd’s Heart to go to University Drive VA Hospital.
8:25am and 10:55am - leaves Shepherd’s Heart to make multiple stops in Northside, Southside, Downtown Pittsburgh, and University Drive VA Hospital.
Each academic year, fifth-year Occupational Therapy students from Duquesne University provide Life Skills Training for the veterans in our program. In the Fall they do various assessments and activities geared toward getting to know the veterans better. From January through April, they provide training in computers, interview skills, dressing for success, stress management, money management, and more.
